UN Secretary General Mr. Kufi Annan
Zurich, June 20. 2006
Very
regretfully, by the latest we have heard a very shocking news that we hoped it
is not true.
We are
informed, the most violator to the Human Rights in Iran; judge Saeed
Mortazavi the Tehran notorious prosecutor general, in accompany with
Jamal Karimi-rad the minister of justice (the main apparatus of injustice
and infringement of human rights in Iran) are invited to inaugural ceremony of
the new UNHR council.
Both are
representing the extrajudicial system in Iran and Saeed Mortazavi
responsible for numerous imprisonments, tortures, and
executions in Iran is
going to represent the Islamic Regime in the first session of the newly formed
UN Human Rights Council.
Saeed Mortazavi is the mass exterminator
of Iranian press and alleged killer of Zahra kazemi the Iranian-Canadian
photo-journalist, who went to Iran to make briefing about the Students uprising
in Iran and was eye-witness to peacefully demonstration of students and freedom
loving which came to a bloody crackdown two years ago. She was brutally
tortured to death directly by Saeed Motrazavi and she was raped. Zahra Kazemi
was one of those 120 000 political/conscience prisoners who have been treated in
the same manners during 27 years by Khomeini regime.
Saeed Mortazavi has spearheaded the
judiciary’s attack on press freedoms since the crackdown began in 2000. He is
responsible for the closure of numerous newspapers, as well as the arrests and
prosecution of journalists, which is detailed in the recent Human Right Watch
report on Iran. Based on this report, after testifying to a presidential
commission about their torture during detention, a group of Iranian journalists
received death threats from Tehran chief prosecutor Saeed Mortazavi. The
journalists’ testimonies exposed Mortazavi’s role in authorizing their torture
to extract confessions and in compelling them to appear on television to deny
their mistreatment while under detention.
His apperaance in Human Rights Council
is not only degrading the values of dignity of HRs but smears the HRs council
reputation and lead to tarnishing hopes and aspiration for future of this new
organization.
Please be informed, it is a mockery of
human rights if the chief prosecutor of a terrorist regime is allowed to sit on
the human rights concil.
Nearly 70
millions of Iranian appreciate your immediate measure should be taken in this
regards to stop this impudence and bring this murder to justice.
Those who are
struggling for human rights, thank you.
Dr. Zahra Erfani
