Self-destruction

There has
always existed a negative view towards some of the policies of the major powers
in our time. One prevalent view is that the major powers design and produce wars
among different nations. For me, it is not and it will not be acceptable that
the Iranian regime provides arms to Hamas in Palestine, the Taliban in
Afghanistan, and the Sunnis in Iraq without the Americans knowing about it. This
is not a rational possibility. To understand this issue better, it is useful to
look at the start of the war in Yugoslavia and how within a few years a strong
country was broken up into a few weak countries. In Afghanistan, the US
dismantled the Taliban – which had been formed to fight communists with initial
American backing. The US managed to dismantle the Taliban regime with intensive
bombing of their bases. Yet in reality we saw that the Afghan people, especially
women, did not abandon their burqas, despite the claims of modern women
intellectuals in Afghanistan. Even more interesting is the fact that in all
villages and small towns of Afghanistan, for each Taliban member who was killed
by American bombs, they built shrines, which have been used by the
Islam-stricken people of Afghanistan as places of worship. We saw that even by
installing Hamed Karzai America did not succeed in ridding society of the
Taliban. Now, the Taliban have regrouped and have entered the political fray
with new energy, determined to reconstitute their power. It is possible that
they might regain their lost power through receiving arms and funding from
Iranian sources. But the Afghan government will not be able to officially
announce that it has received weapons from Iran.
You must have
read and heard in the news that the Afghan defence minister has claimed that
“these weapons are Iranian, but we cannot tell how they have reached the
Taliban.” Must it be said that the hidden Imam of the Shia in Iran, through the
white house, has miraculously sent these to the Taliban? How many
hundred-unknown equations must we solve in the modern history? But in Iraq, it
is unknown where the sunni minority has received weapons and funds to be able
to resist the Shia, Iranian-backed majority until now? Maybe this is another
miracle of the hidden Imam of Iranian Muslims.
Ultimately,
now, in June 2007, we are facing even stranger realities in Palestine, where the
Hamas movement have battled Fattah, and occupied all of Gaza. Where are the
Monir Shafeeqs and the Edward Saids to see how the victims of Sabra and Shatilla
are now ruthlessly killing each other in the holy land of Jews and Muslims? In
other words, in Afghanistan, Iraq, and among Palestinians, rival factions are
repeating the experience of Yugoslavia. Doesn’t it seem that all these places
are unravelling according to the same plan? Don’t the US and its partners make
instrumental use of Islam-stricken Iran, axis-of -evil member Syria, and Saudi
Arabia of 1400 years ago? Think to yourselves, won’t the major powers need
regions that are harmonious and diverse, and free of political convulsions?
Unfortunately, I do not see the light in this morass. What do you think?
